
Water level in Beas increased due to rain in upper hilly areas - Deputy Commissioner.
Kapurthala (Paigam-e-Jagat):- Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal has appealed to the people living in low-lying areas to move to safer places in view of the increase in water level in Beas river.

Mr. Panchal said that due to heavy rain in upper hilly areas, the water level in Beas river has increased by 21000 cusecs compared to the morning, due to which people should prefer moving to safer places.
In the morning, the water level in Beas river was about 2 lakh cusecs, which increased to 2.21 lakh cusecs in the evening.
Mr. Panchal said that 40 Army personnel and SDRF teams have been deployed to evacuate people from the flood-affected areas. They are evacuating people from the flood with the help of 15 boats.
He said that relief centers have been set up in the district for the accommodation of the affected people, including Gurdwara Sahib of Fazalabad, Lakh Varianh and Mand Kuka.
He also appealed to the people that if any kind of assistance is required, then they should immediately contact the helpline numbers of the district administration. The control room numbers of the district administration 62800-49331, 01822-231990 and the flood control room of Sultanpur Lodhi sub-division 01828-222169 are functional 24 hours.
