New Delhi: A Belgian court has again rejected the bail plea of ??fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, wanted in India in connection with the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud of over Rs 6,300 crore. Officials said that Mehul's bail plea has been rejected just before the extradition hearing in a Belgian court.
Earlier, the CBI had presented several evidence against Mehul in the Belgian court and the court rejected the appeal for compelling reasons. The CBI told the court that Choksi has already filed several appeals to avoid legal proceedings, if he is released on bail.
Then he can flee to another country. They said that Choksi was arrested in Belgium in April on the basis of an extradition request sent by the CBI.
