S.A.S. Nagar- Punjab Petroleum Dealers Association and SC, BC social organizations staged a dharna outside HPCL Zonal Office in Mohali. The protesters expressed their anger against discrimination and harassment of Scheduled Caste (SC) dealers in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and restriction on entry of SC, BC communities in the petroleum sector through discriminatory new policies. A day-long peaceful symbolic protest was held.
On the occasion, the protesters submitted a memorandum to Shri Rajinder Kumar, Zonal General Manager, HPCL Mohali, demanding that the long pending issues of SC dealership be resolved soon and discriminatory policies be replaced with policies for the welfare of SC, BC class.
Present on the occasion were Punjab Petroleum Dealers Association President Sandeep Sehgal, General Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Ambedkar Force State President Anil Bagha, social worker Sanyogita, NREGA Front President Resham Kahlo, RTE Committee Member Sarabjit Singh, Azad Bharat Mission's Mewa Singh, Apni Mitti Apne Log Sangathan President Ajay Kumar, Rajinder Kaur, Jugat Singh, Moolnivasi Bharat Mukti Morcha Chandigarh President S.S. Suman, Bahujan Kranti Morcha Chandigarh Convenor Surinder Kumar along with HPCL dealers from Punjab and Haryana.
