Will build a big cold storage in every district - Shyam Singh Rana.

Chandigarh, July 23 - Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana said that a big cold storage will be built in every district so that the crops of the farmers growing fruits and vegetables do not get spoiled and they can get better price for their crops. For this, he directed the officials to speed up the work. He said that they should complete all the announcements made by the Chief Minister in the Budget 2025-26 as the Finance Minister within the stipulated time. The officials will have to answer for any delay.

Mr. Rana was chairing a meeting of Horticulture and other officials in his office here today.
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister today reviewed the current status of the budget-allocations related to the Horticulture Department in detail. When he asked about the progress report of setting up a state-of-the-art processing and packaging plant for kinnu in Sirsa, the officials said that 3 acres of land has been identified by the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation for this and the draft DPR has also been prepared and further action will be taken soon. He informed that there is a plan to set up a state-of-the-art processing and packaging plant and mandi for guava in Hisar and Fatehabad and work on this will also be started soon.
Shri Shyam Singh Rana was informed in the meeting that under the announcement of starting 2000 new green stores in the state, 1805 agreements have been signed so far, out of which 1284 stores have also been opened.
When he asked the officials about ensuring the increase in compensation amount under the Chief Minister's Horticulture Insurance Scheme according to inflation, they said that the department is preparing a horticulture policy and this subject is being included in the same policy.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana directed the officials to emphasize on building a big cold storage in every district and also said that for this, the storage owner should be encouraged to supply electricity through solar plants so that their cost is reduced and income increases. 
Under this scheme, there is a provision of 35 percent grant in the department's schemes for the establishment of cold storage up to 5000 metric tons capacity for farmers, which is from Rs. 1.68 crore to Rs. 2.10 crore per beneficiary.
The Agriculture Minister was informed that farmers in the state are being given a subsidy of Rs. 30 thousand for turmeric, garlic and ginger and Rs. 15 thousand per acre for other spices like coriander, fenugreek etc. He also reviewed the steps being taken by the department for beekeeping and mushroom cultivation. 
Mr. Shyam Singh said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, the state government is continuously making efforts to improve the economic condition of the farmers of the state.
