Nawanshahr, March 13- A special meeting of depot holders was held today under the chairmanship of officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, in which the legal hurdles that blue card holders will face in the coming time were discussed.
Bahadur Chand Arora, President of the Depot Holders Union, said that depot holders also have to face many problems in the field, especially the e-KYC process remains incomplete due to the fingerprints of children below 12 years of age and the elderly getting worn out. In response, District Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller Manjinder Singh said that if any depot holder or blue card holder faces any problem, they can contact the employees and officers of the department who are present in every area.
Raising this issue, Mr. Bahadur Chand Arora said that it should be resolved by contacting the higher officials in the state. Mr Manjinder Singh said that all the blue card holders of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district must get their e-KYC done by March 31, 2025. If they do not do so, their name will be removed from the blue card list.
He said that the Punjab Government has found that some people have died, some have gone abroad and there are other issues, but their heirs are still getting grains on blue cards. Therefore, the government has ordered that only those people will be able to avail the benefits of government schemes who have completed their e-KYC.
He informed that at present there are 336457 blue card holders in the district, out of which 255008 (75.79%) have completed their e-KYC. The exact number of real beneficiaries will be known only after the completion of the process of the department.
He appealed to the district residents to get their e-KYC done before March 31, as no appeal will be considered after this. Assistant Food and Supply Officer Harish Kumar, Jitendra Verma, Food and Supply Officer Balachaur Arun Kumar and Inspector Nawanshahr were also present on this occasion.
