
Investigation conducted by District Task Force for Prevention of Child Beggary.
Hoshiarpur- As per the guidelines issued under Project Jeevanjot, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Ashika Jain, the District Level Task Force for Prevention of Child Beggary led by District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur raided New Sabzi Mandi, Kandi Sweet Shop, Bengali Sweet Shop, Phagwara Chowk, Prabhat Chowk, Shimla Pahari Chowk, Hanuman Mandir, Shani Mandir, Bhangi Chowk in District Hoshiarpur.
Hoshiarpur- As per the guidelines issued under Project Jeevanjot, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Ashika Jain, the District Level Task Force for Prevention of Child Beggary led by District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur raided New Sabzi Mandi, Kandi Sweet Shop, Bengali Sweet Shop, Phagwara Chowk, Prabhat Chowk, Shimla Pahari Chowk, Hanuman Mandir, Shani Mandir, Bhangi Chowk in District Hoshiarpur.
During this raid, 4 children were rescued from child begging and presented before the Child Welfare Committee. The Child Welfare Committee counseled the children and decisions were taken keeping in mind the welfare of the children.
Giving information in this regard, District Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur also appealed to the general public that if you see any child begging or doing labour, then definitely inform about it on Child Helpline 1098 so that your one initiative can change the life of a child. Information on schemes being run by the Punjab government for children between the ages of 0 and 18 can be obtained by visiting District Child Protection Unit Hoshiarpur or by calling Child Helpline 1098.
He said that such raids have been conducted earlier as well and will continue. If any parent is found making the child beg, action will also be taken against the parents. Coordination can be done with District Child Protection Unit, Ram Colony Camp, Hoshiarpur regarding the safety and care of children.
(Social worker) District Child Protection Unit Mohit, SHO Kiran Singh from City Police Station Hoshiarpur, Kuldeep Singh (Counselor) District Child Protection Unit, Dr. Shalini (Health Department) Amit Kumar (Education Department) were present in this raid. Counseling of Child Welfare Committee was done and decisions were taken keeping in mind the welfare of the children.
