Chandigarh: 15th July, 2025: The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has announced the 2025 recipients of its esteemed Distinguished Service Medal for Region 10, representing around 170 countries. Among the distinguished awardees is Dr. Har Amrit Singh Sandhu, faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, and the current President of the ASCE India Section. 
Dr. Sandhu has been recognized for his exemplary contributions to advancing ASCE’s mission and elevating the civil engineering profession. His remarkable achievements include founding the ASCE PEC Chandigarh Student Chapter in 2014 and receiving the ASCE Outstanding Faculty Advisor Awards in 2016 and 2020 from ASCE Headquarters. 
His leadership was instrumental in successfully organizing an international ASCE conference on sustainability in Chandigarh. Additionally, in 2018, Dr. Sandhu was honored with a Commendation Certificate by the UT Administration on Republic Day for his significant contributions to the Government of India’s Digital India initiative.
Dr. Sandhu has been invited to accept this distinguished award at the Global Reception during the ASCE 2025 Convention in Seattle, USA, in October 2025, an event expected to draw over 2,000 civil engineers worldwide. The ceremony will be graced by ASCE’s esteemed leadership, including President Feniosky Peña-Mora, President-Elect Ms. Marsha, and Executive Director Thomas Smith, alongside other prominent figures in civil engineering. 
Prof. S.K. Singh, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at PEC, extended heartfelt congratulations, stating, “This distinguished recognition underscores Dr. Sandhu’s unwavering commitment to excellence and reflects PEC’s dedication to fostering innovation and leadership in core engineering disciplines.”
