
Mohali Police Achieves Major Success in War Against Drugs; Arrests Two Peddlers with 52 Grams of ICE
SAS Nagar, July 14, 2025: Mohali police achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing war against drugs by arresting two accused with 52 grams of ICE (synthetic drug).

This action was carried out under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans (IPS), SP (Rural) Shri Manpreet Singh (PPS), SP (Investigation) Shri Saurav Jindal, and DSP Derabassi Bikramjit Singh Brar at a police checkpoint set up near Nagla road, Handesra.
Divulging the details, SP (Investigation) Saurav Jindal said that during the checking, the police signaled a Mahindra Thar car (registration number PB-16-H-4215) to stop. Upon seeing the police, the driver stopped the vehicle and threw a transparent polythene envelope from his pant pocket.
The driver, identified as Surjit Singh, son of Karnail Singh, resident of village Beihara, Tehsil Anandpur Sahib, District Rupnagar, along with his accomplice Tarun Kumar Sharma, son of Laxman Sharma, resident of Village Niketen, Lajpat Nagar Part-2, Delhi, tried to flee towards Ambala Cantt (Haryana) road but were apprehended by the police team on the spot.
On opening and checking the polythene packet, 52 grams of ICE were recovered. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they had brought the drug from Delhi-Noida and intended to sell it in Punjab.
An FIR has been registered under sections 21, 29/61/85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Handesra. They are being presented before the court today, and further investigation is underway.
