Chandigarh, July 8 – The Punjab Police has registered an FIR in connection with the spreading of fake bomb rumours on an Indigo flight that landed at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, from Hyderabad last week, officials said on Tuesday. According to officials, a tissue paper with ‘There is a bomb inside’ written on it was found in a toilet of the plane after it landed at the airport on July 5.
Chandigarh, July 8 – The Punjab Police has registered an FIR in connection with the spreading of fake bomb rumours on an Indigo flight that landed at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, from Hyderabad last week, officials said on Tuesday. According to officials, a tissue paper with ‘There is a bomb inside’ written on it was found in a toilet of the plane after it landed at the airport on July 5.
A senior police officer said that after receiving the note, a thorough search of the plane was conducted, but no explosives were found. Deputy Superintendent of Police Amarpreet Singh said, “The Indigo flight from Hyderabad landed here on July 5 and was supposed to go to Delhi. After the passengers disembarked, a tissue paper with ‘There is a bomb inside’ written on it was found in the toilet of the plane during cleaning.”
"The security manager of IndiGo immediately informed the airport authorities and the police. An anti-sabotage team, bomb disposal squad and CISF personnel thoroughly searched the aircraft. The passengers' luggage was also checked, but nothing was found," he said.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Aircraft (Safety) Act in this regard. The DSP said that further investigation is underway.
