On this occasion, Home Secretary Mandeep Brar, Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, Special Commissioner Pradeep Kumar and Senior Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and Ward Councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty along with MOH Inder Deep Kaur and School Principal Kuldeep Kaur were also present. During this time, officials of the RWA of the ward, administration and corporation officials and others were also present.
A total of 1200 saplings were planted today as part of the campaign.
Under the plantation campaign, plantation was also done in the government schools of Sector 53 and 54 coming under the ward. In which the senior deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation and ward councilor Jasbir Singh Bunty planted a sapling and made the children aware of the importance of trees in our human life.
He told that the way the weather has changed due to global warming. Its main reason is messing with nature. We are busy building concrete settlements in place of trees. Instead of taking care of trees, we are bent on destroying them. If this continues, we will yearn to breathe in fresh air.
On this occasion, the children took a pledge that they will not use plastic in school and neither will they bring food from home in plastic nor will they use water in plastic water bottles. However, now they will take care of nature and plant trees and will also take good care of them.
