District level committee meeting concluded under National Trust Act.

Una, June 27- A meeting of the District Level Local Committee constituted under the National Trust Act, 1999 was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. In the meeting, various aspects related to legal protection of mentally challenged persons such as autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and persons suffering from multiple disabilities were discussed in detail.

Una, June 27- A meeting of the District Level Local Committee constituted under the National Trust Act, 1999 was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. In the meeting, various aspects related to legal protection of mentally challenged persons such as autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and persons suffering from multiple disabilities were discussed in detail.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this Act is an important step towards providing legal protection to such special persons whose parents are not alive or there is no one to take care of them. He informed that before the implementation of the Act, there was no clear provision for appointing guardians for such disabled persons after the age of 18 years, but now the process of appointing legal guardians for permanent or limited period has become easy.
He informed that till now permanent legal guardians have been appointed in a total of 112 cases in Una district. The Deputy Commissioner directed all the concerned departments to work in coordination with each other, so that effective implementation of the Act is ensured.
Relief amount of 2.75 lakh released in 5 cases under SC-ST Act. Along with this, the Deputy Commissioner also chaired the quarterly meeting of the District Vigilance and Awareness Committee constituted to provide the right of equality in the society to the people of Scheduled Castes under the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Act, and to prevent caste discrimination and atrocities.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under this Act, along with getting punishment, there is a provision to give an amount of Rs 1 lakh to 8 lakh 25 thousand to the victim as legal protection and rehabilitation relief amount. The first installment of which is paid on FIR, the second installment on presenting the case in the court and the remaining amount is paid on the decision.
Jatin Lal said that in the last three months, relief amount of Rs 2 lakh 75 thousand has been provided to the victims in 5 cases. Action is going on on the remaining. The Deputy Commissioner directed to settle the pending cases under the SC-ST Act with complete transparency.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Bhatia, Executive District Welfare Officer Jitendra Kumar, Assistant Director of National Career Center Ranjan Changkakoti, Deputy District Advocate Bhairav ??Negi and other members were present in the meeting.
