Officials said that Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport in the morning and went straight to the crash site. He spent about 20 minutes inspecting the site where the Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a compound of BJ Medical College in Meghaninagar area shortly after taking off on Thursday afternoon.
Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi briefed the Prime Minister on how the plane crashed into the college's hostel and mess.
Modi later visited the city's Civil Hospital, where he spoke to Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the plane crash, and also met other people injured in the accident. The Prime Minister visited the C7 ward of the hospital, where 25 injured are undergoing treatment, and interacted with the doctors.
