
Forest Department celebrated World Environment Day.
Patiala, June 9- Under the World Environment Day and "Ek Peth Maa Ke Naam" campaign, the officers of the Forest Department celebrated World Environment Day by planting saplings in the ground of Government Elementary School Pasiana under Block Dhakrabba of Forest Range Samana under the guidance of Hon'ble Gurmanpreet Singh Forest Divisional Officer Patiala and Mandeep Singh Dhillon Forest Range Officer Samana.

On this occasion, Dhakrabba Beat Incharge Pargat Singh Nabha and Pasiana Beat Incharge Charanjit Singh Baras addressed the people gathered on the spot and said that a tree digests 20 kg of dust in a year, produces about 120 kg of oxygen every year and absorbs 22 kg of carbon dioxide.
Apart from this, a tree has the ability to digest heavy metals like lithium. He said that trees are not only helpful in keeping the environment clean, but also help in preventing diseases and prolonging life.
On this occasion, Manav Vikas Sansthan and TNC's Prana Project Supervisor Sapna Chaudhary and Mandeep Singh and Forest Department employee leader Jaswinder Singh Sauja, Mangat Ram Balkar Singh, Hardeep Singh Tarsem Singh and Pasiyana village residents and Sarpanch Yadvinder Singh, Panch Vakil Ram Karamjit Singh, Panch Jarnail Singh, Panch former Sarpanch Balveer Singh and a large number of village residents, youth, children and department employees were present.
