Government should immediately release the dues of MNREGA workers and withheld salaries of employees - Deepak Hoshiarpur.

Hoshiarpur- An important meeting of the MNREGA Workers Union Unit Bhunga was held at the Forest Office Dholwaha under the chairmanship of Block President Varinder Kaur. A large number of MNREGA workers attended the meeting. District Coordinator and Employee Leader Manjit Saini, Forest Workers Union President Surinder Pal and State Convener Deepak Hoshiarpur also attended.

Hoshiarpur- An important meeting of the MNREGA Workers Union Unit Bhunga was held at the Forest Office Dholwaha under the chairmanship of Block President Varinder Kaur. A large number of MNREGA workers attended the meeting. District Coordinator and Employee Leader Manjit Saini, Forest Workers Union President Surinder Pal and State Convener Deepak Hoshiarpur also attended.
During the meeting, the problems faced by the MNREGA workers were discussed. Amanpreet Kaur Naushera, Uma Devi Ramtatwali and Reena Rani Dholwaha said that the MNREGA workers have not been paid for the work they have done in the past. Payments for about five months are pending. No money was given for the work done by the block offices during the floods.
Due to the halt in development works in the villages, MNREGA workers are forced to work in shifts. Met Prem Kumar Katauhar, Rita Devi, Sandeep Singh etc. have demanded provision of offline attendance along with online attendance. Due to the absence of mobile network during work on forests and canals, online attendance is not available, MNREGA workers are not paid despite working. Similarly, the difficulties of MNREGA workers have increased due to problems related to geo tagging.
District Coordinator Manjit Saini condemned the central and state governments for cutting the MNREGA budget every year. He called on MNREGA workers to join the struggle together to achieve their legitimate demands. State Convener Deepak Hoshiarpur has demanded that the government immediately release the arrears of MNREGA workers and the withheld salaries of MNREGA employees.
On this occasion, the MGNREGA Workers Union decided to burn the effigies of the Central and Punjab Governments at the BDPO office, Bhunga on the 24th demanding speeding up of development works in villages, getting all the work of Panchayats done through MGNREGA, and resolving the issues of MGNREGA workers on priority basis. 
Apart from others, Kanchan Devi, Bhooli, Tripta Devi, Rachna Devi, Rupinder Kaur, Balbir Kaur, Mahinder Pal, Ram Ji Das, Om Prakash, Harnam Das, Gurmeet Singh etc. were present on this occasion.
