Kundan Gogia became Mayor of Municipal Corporation Patiala, election held unanimously

Patiala, January 10- After the oath taking ceremony of the councillors of Municipal Corporation Patiala, Kundan Gogia was elected as the new Mayor of the Municipal Corporation today, while Harinder Kohli was elected Senior Deputy Mayor and Jagdeep Singh Rai was elected Deputy Mayor. This entire election process was completed unanimously.

Patiala, January 10- After the oath taking ceremony of the councillors of Municipal Corporation Patiala, Kundan Gogia was elected as the new Mayor of the Municipal Corporation today, while Harinder Kohli was elected Senior Deputy Mayor and Jagdeep Singh Rai was elected Deputy Mayor. This entire election process was completed unanimously. After this, the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor took charge in the presence of Cabinet Minister and State President of Aam Aadmi Party Aman Arora, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and Cabinet Minister Barinder Goyal and MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra.
PRTC Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana and Chairman of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia were also present on this occasion. Earlier, the first meeting was called under Section 56 of the Act to administer oath to the newly elected councillors under Section 35 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976 in the Sahir Ludhianvi Hall of the Municipal Corporation. Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh and Sanaur MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra were also present on the occasion as ex-officio members of the Municipal Corporation House. Divisional Commissioner Patiala Division Daljit Singh Mangat conducted the oath taking ceremony and the councillors stood up from their seats and took the oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India in the name of God.
Daljit Singh Mangat nominated Councillor Gurkripal Singh from Ward No. 14 as Presiding Officer under Section 60 (A) of the Act to preside over the meeting for the election of Mayor and other office bearers under Section 38 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976. Gurkripal Singh then conducted the proceedings and sought a resolution from the House for the election of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Thereafter, Councillor Tejinder Mehta from Ward No. 34 proposed the name of Councillor Kundan Gogia elected from Ward No. 30. Kundan Gogia's name was supported by Councillor Mukta Gupta from Ward No. 29 and all the councillors present showed their unanimity on Kundan Gogia's name and Kundan Gogia was elected Mayor.
For the post of Senior Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jasbir Singh from Ward No. 6 proposed the name of Councillor Harinder Kohli from Ward No. 28 and Councillor Gyan Chand from Ward No. 18 supported it. Similarly, for the post of Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jagdeep Singh Rai from Ward No. 12 was proposed by Councillor Shankar Lal from Ward No. 8 and Councillor Harpal Juneja from Ward No. 38 supported it. Similarly, Harinder Kohli and Jagdeep Singh Rai were also elected unanimously by all the councillors by raising their hands.
On the occasion of the election of Mayor and other office bearers today, Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Rajat Oberoi, ADC (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Babandeep Singh and Deepjot Kaur were also present.
