Giving information in the gathering, former Sarpanch Jassi Singh, Lakhveer Singh Lakkhi, Bhagwant Singh, Mahinder Singh, Makhan Singh etc. told that the villagers had asked the police several times to take action against the drug smugglers, but no action was taken against the smugglers, after which the smugglers became so emboldened that they even beat up former soldier Ranveer Singh, a member of the anti-drug committee. In protest against this, when the youth of the village put up posters of 'Gaon Bikaau Hai', SHO Kotfatta threatened to implicate the youth of the village Lakhveer Singh Lakkhi in a case.
Jassi Singh told that yesterday SP Rural Hina Gupta and SHO Kotfatta Munish Kumar came to him and SHO Munish Kumar said that I will get the dope test of Lakhveer Singh who put up the poster of 'Gaon Bikaau Hai' done and said that this poster has been put up by Lakhveer Singh, then the SHO started threatening me on the phone and said that you yourself consume drugs and I will implicate you in some case.
After this, Lakhvir Singh Lakkhi posted a video about the threats on his Facebook account at night, after which the whole village united and announced to stand in support of Lakhvir Singh Lakkhi and said that the whole village agrees with the 'Gaon Bikaau Hai' poster. The villagers said that if any harm comes to Lakhvir Singh, the police administration will be responsible for it.
He also said that the Punjab government is running a 'war against drugs' campaign, but at the ground level neither has any drug addiction been eradicated nor have the drug sellers been caught. This campaign of the government is limited only to advertisements.
