MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh led the de-addiction march in various villages of Gharuan block under the "War against Drugs" campaign.

Kharar/Ghaduan (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar) July 24, 2025: Under the "War against Drugs" campaign launched by the Punjab Government for the complete eradication of drug abuse to make Punjab a drug-free state, a de-addiction march was taken out in various villages of Gharuan block today under the leadership of Halkaur Sahib MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh.

Kharar/Ghaduan (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar) July 24, 2025: Under the "War against Drugs" campaign launched by the Punjab Government for the complete eradication of drug abuse to make Punjab a drug-free state, a de-addiction march was taken out in various villages of Gharuan block today under the leadership of Halkaur Sahib MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh.
Constituency MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh today made people aware about the ill effects of drug abuse through the de-addiction march in villages Cholta Khurd, Cholta Kalan, Pannuan, Madanheri Majatri, Niyamiyan, Makkaran, Dubhli, Basiyan, Dhadak Kalan, Dhadak Khurd and Khairpur of Gharuan block.
MLA Halkaur Sahib Dr. Charanjit Singh said on the occasion that this campaign has been started by the government led by Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann for the welfare of the society and all the people should come forward and cooperate in it, only then we can make Punjab a drug free state.
He said that the Punjab government is making every effort to eradicate drug abuse, adequate arrangements have been made in government and private de-addiction centres and rehabilitation centres for the best treatment of drug addicts and if any family member, friend or any person living in the area consumes drugs due to bad company, he should be admitted to these de-addiction centres for proper treatment.
He also said that if any person is determined to quit drug abuse but is unable to go to the de-addiction centre, he can contact them through any of his relatives and they will ensure that the drug addict gets proper treatment. He informed the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and appealed to the children to stay away from drugs.
He inspired the young generation to stay away from drugs and aim to study, read books, play sports and move ahead. He said that one should not take drugs, which eats away our body and society. He said that one should not hate a drug addict, but get him treated. In fact, a drug addict is mentally ill, who needs to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
He also said that if anyone sells drugs, then without any fear inform the government on toll free number 9779100200, the identity of the informer will be kept confidential and the police will take strict action against the drug seller. On this occasion, apart from BDPO Gharuan and SHO Gharuan, school teachers, village dignitaries and school students were present.
