In the program, Prof Simmi Agnihotri's husband Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, her daughter Dr. Aastha Agnihotri, and other dignitaries paid tribute by laying flowers on the picture of Prof Simmi. Born on 29 September 1968 in Mandi, the name of Prof Simmi Agnihotri will continue to shine like a star in the sky of education. She completed her worldly journey on 9 February 2024 and merged into the divine light of Mata Shri Chintapurni. But her countless academic achievements in her short life represent Indian education on international educational forums. Naming Haroli College after Prof Simmi Agnihotri gives every student studying here the pride of being connected to the great tradition of knowledge and to a personality with extraordinary academic achievements.
Prof Simmi Agnihotri College Haroli, which is being developed as a centre of excellence in education, offers degree courses in all subjects of humanities, science and commerce streams as well as professional courses like BBA and BCA and in fine arts including music.
Prof Simmi was born in Mandi town. Studious since childhood, a brilliant student, Simmi did her schooling from Government Girls School there and after graduation from Vallabh Degree College Mandi, did her M.Phil and PhD in Public Administration from Himachal Pradesh University. The process of getting scholarships for being topper in studies from school days itself continued till PhD.
She started teaching at Himachal Pradesh University in the year 1998 at a very young age. Prof Simmi, a multi-faceted personality, left a strong mark of her prodigious talent in various fields in schools, colleges and universities.
Her extraordinary academic journey established her as an ideal educationist. A favourite teacher of students, an excellent educationist, Prof Simmi guided many students in their PhD and MPhil research. Prof Simmi's scholarly articles and research papers not only hold an important place in the world of education, but also present very strong and profound thoughts on social issues.
As a Professor of Public Administration at Himachal Pradesh University, she brightened countless lives with her knowledge and experience. As the Chairperson of the department thrice, she not only contributed deeply to her subject, but also showed a new direction to her students, she lit such a lamp of knowledge that will continue to inspire generations to come.
The resonance of Prof Simmi ji's vast knowledge and experience was not limited to the university or the state, he made India proud by participating in many UGC conferences and representing Indian education on many international educational forums.
Last year he was also honoured with the Vietnam International Achievers Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of education and research. He was honoured with the prestigious Vietnam Achievers Award.
Renowned institutions of the country honoured her with many awards including International Best Teacher Award, Woman Achiever Award and Nari Shakti Award. A book written by her was released by the honourable Governor a few days before her death.

She was such a social worker who created a wave of awareness in the society. She was running an NGO by the name of Aastha Foundation. Her participation in the movement against drugs, road safety campaign, social work and participation in every field were the hallmarks of her continuous activism in the work of social service.
Prof Simmi, who became the support of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri as his wife, was a storehouse of affection, understanding and teachings for everyone. Her intentions were so firm that Prof Simmi, who played a decisive role in all the five victories of Shri Agnihotri, who won with record votes as MLA for 5 consecutive times, would walk barefoot from her home to pay obeisance at Mata Chintpurni, Mata Jwalamukhi, Baglamukhi ji.
The rich values ??and high education that Prof Simmi gave to her only daughter Dr Aastha Agnihotri is the result of which she is carrying forward the great tradition of education, knowledge and social development of her mother Prof Simmi Agnihotri by obtaining PhD in Human Rights from Himachal Pradesh University and higher education from Hague Academy of International Law. Assistant Professor in Himachal Pradesh University, Dr Aastha is a strong personality with clear thinking just like Prof Simmi and is as helpful as her.
