
Demonstration in Nawanshahr on 2 June for the release of the leaders of the Land Acquisition Struggle Committee.
Nawanshahr, May 28- The joint front of rural and farm labour organisations will protest at the district headquarters of Punjab on May 20 demanding the release of hundreds of leaders and workers of the 'Land Acquisition Struggle Committee', which had announced to settle Begumpura on the land of Ishwan Bir in village Bechirag of Sangrur district. A rally will be held at the bus stop Nawanshahr before the demonstration.

This decision was taken in the meeting of labour organisations held today at Shaheed Malkit Chand Mahali Bhawan Nawanshahr. Giving information in this regard, district leader of Rural Labour Union Kamaljit Sanawa said that the Land Acquisition Struggle Committee has announced that on May 20, 927 acres of land will be distributed among the labourers in Ishwan Bir of Sangrur district and Begumpura will be settled there.
The police of the Mann government of Punjab raided the villages and set up checkpoints and arrested hundreds of leaders and workers of the committee and put them in jail, which also includes a large number of women workers. Not only this, yesterday also the police broke the locks of the house of the committee's president Mukesh Maloud and tried to spread terror. He said that the anti-labor and anti-democracy face of the Mann government has been exposed.
Comrade Niranjan Das, All India Mazdoor Sabha leader Parminder Maneka, Santokh Pal, Gurbakhsh Kaur, Dharam Pal, Saradhu Ram, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha leader Surinder Bhatti, Sukhdev Singh Rahon addressed this meeting and said that the Mann government should implement the Land Ceiling Act in the state and distribute seventeen and a half acres of additional land among laborers and landless farmers.
