Due to natural disaster, trees fell at many places and power supply has been badly affected due to breakage of power wires. To provide relief to the people in this crisis situation, MP from Hoshiarpur Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal himself has taken the lead.
MP Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal has contacted the senior officials of the power department PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) and issued instructions to restore power supply. He said in clear words that people cannot be forced to live in heat and darkness. In this regard, he also had a direct conversation with PSPCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Ajoy Kumar Sinha (IAS) and asked him to take immediate steps. He said that Ajoy Kumar Sinha has assured that he will call a meeting today and find a solution to the problem.
The MP also spoke to Senior Engineer Jaswinder Singh Virdi and directed to restore power supply in the affected areas on priority basis. He said that the contract staff working in the department has been on strike for the last two-three days, due to which there is a delay in repair and restoration of power. MP Chabbewal said that in such a situation, help of external staff should be taken to streamline the power supply and the public should be provided relief at any cost.
XEN Sandeep Sharma, while giving information, said that about 80 percent of the power supply has been restored so far due to the efforts of the department. He said that the power supply will be normalized by completing the work in the remaining areas soon. Due to incidents of falling trees and breaking of wires, there is a need to install poles and replace transformers in many areas, on which work is being done at a fast pace.
MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal has appealed to the public to maintain patience and assured that he himself is monitoring the power supply system. He has instructed PSPCL officials to keep a close watch on the situation and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.
Dr. Chabbewal finally said that solving the problems of the public is his priority and together with the administrative staff, he will soon normalize the entire situation.
