Nawanshahr- Under the education campaign against illegal liquor, teams of irrigation department have raised awareness and checked illegal liquor in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. The irrigation department is checking dhabas, restaurants, rice shellers, cold stores, paint and hardware dealers and kilns etc. at various places in the district.
Drug Inspectors Sunil Bhardwaj, Jaspal Singh, Vinod Kumar and Narinder Kumar, led by drug officer Jaswinderjit Singh Bedi, along with drug police, conducted investigations to make people aware about the harm of illegal liquor and its ill effects on health.
In view of the deaths due to consumption of fake and bad liquor in Amritsar district, the team of irrigation department said that in view of the deaths due to consumption of fake and illegal liquor, this campaign will continue in the coming days.
He said that the main objective of checking is to check the stock of illegal liquor anywhere and take necessary action. The Excise team told the public that drinking illegal/poisonous liquor can endanger people's lives and can also lead to loss of eyesight.
On this occasion, the Irrigation Department officials requested the public for cooperation and said that if any miscreant sells illegal liquor in any village or other area, then information about it should be immediately given to the Irrigation Department so that strict legal action can be taken against him.
