Garhshankar May 21- SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that strong coordination between the police and civil administration is very important to eradicate drugs from the root, only then can this campaign be taken forward effectively.
He was addressing a meeting regarding anti-drug de-addiction held at the District Administrative Complex today. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nicas Kumar and SP Major Singh were also present in this meeting. During the meeting, they also discussed the illegal encroachment of drug smugglers on the lands of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Gram Panchayats and gave instructions for appropriate action in these cases.
SSP Malik, while discussing the condition of patients under treatment in OAT centers, said that there is a need to make these centers more effective so that the right direction can be given to people struggling with drug addiction. Along with this, he stressed the need to adopt a concrete strategy to make the drug de-addiction journeys successful. He said that this campaign can be made more effective by increasing public participation and through comprehensive awareness programs.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nicas Kumar said that every section of the society will have to come forward to make the anti-drug campaign successful, only then can this serious problem be eradicated from the root. The officers present in the meeting discussed preparing a framework for joint action against drug abuse at the administrative and police levels. SSP Malik assured that drug peddlers will be completely nabbed through strict monitoring and concrete steps. 
He directed the concerned officers to review such cases regularly so that there is no laxity at any level. Officers from various departments were present on the occasion.
