
Checking of school vehicles, challans issued for two school buses.
Nawanshahr- As part of the steps being taken to strictly implement the safe school vehicle policy, school vehicles were checked in the district today, during which documents of 20 school buses of 12 schools were checked and challans were issued for two school buses violating the terms of the policy.

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, this checking was done under the leadership of Regional Transport Officer of Balachaur and SDM Indrapal. Giving information about the checking, District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora said that the team formed in this regard informed the drivers of school buses about the terms of the safe school vehicle policy, which are the same for school buses.
CCTV cameras, iron grills on windows, first aid box, female conductors, bus drivers in school uniform, seat belts, awareness about not seating more children than the capacity in the school bus. The team clarified that legal action will be taken against school buses that do not fulfill the terms of the policy. Kanchan Arora said that the District Child Protection Office from time to time makes school principals and school drivers aware of the conditions of the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
She said that school bus drivers should also have complete documents of the vehicle. District Transport Officer Inderpal Singh also appealed to the general public to check their children in school buses before sending them. He also warned the school bus drivers that no kind of exemption will be used to stop school buses or reduce fees in case of violation of the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
He said that drivers should complete their and their buses' documents before taking the bus on Road 3. On this occasion, Principal Surinderpal Agnihotri, ASI Subhash Chandra, Ravinder Kaur from Education Department and PO Rajinder Kaur from Child Protection Unit and Data Entry Operator Santosh were also present.
