Kharar/Chandigarh, May 19: "Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is committed to providing transparent and corruption-free governance and is continuously working towards this goal", asserted Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO here today.
After journalists, during the press conference held today at Punjab Bhawan, brought to his attention the cases of corruption by employees of power department in various areas of Mohali district, Harbhajan Singh ETO took immediate action and conducted surprise inspection of the Kharar Electricity Office where he obtained feedback from consumers who had come for various services regarding the office's functioning.
During this surprise visit, the Cabinet Minister also examined official records, which revealed certain discrepancies. Consequently, the Power Minister ordered both the transfer and chargesheeting of Junior Engineer of Kharar Jatinder Singh. Besides this, he instructed the officials to issue show-cause notice to SDO, Kharar.
The Cabinet Minister stressed that corruption of any kind will not be tolerated in the department. He urged the people to register complaints related to corruption in the Power department on WhatsApp no. 9501200200, assuring that if any state resident sends him a complaint regarding corruption in the Power department, he would ensure action within 24 hours.
