Additional District Sessions Judge (SC/ST) Ragini Singh has rejected the bail applications filed by several accused. Assistant District Government Advocate Hariyom Prakash Saini said that the lawyers of the five defence parties had filed bail applications in the court.
The defence argued that their clients were not named in the original reports and were wrongly detained by the police without any credible evidence. The chargesheet in the case was filed on February 21. The accused are now facing serious charges under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 191 (rioting), 326 (arson) and 324 (destruction of public property) of the IPC. Prakash Saini said, “The court, after hearing both the parties, dismissed the discharge applications and formally framed charges against all the 50 accused.” The next hearing of the case will be on May 26, during which the prosecution will start presenting evidence.
