
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar ranks first in Punjab in wheat lifting
S A S Nagar, May 17: In the recent Rabi procurement season, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district has ranked first with 100 percent lifting. Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that after the completion of the procurement work on May 15, a total of 1,34,761 MT of wheat crop was purchased in the mandis of the district.

Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that after the completion of the procurement work on May 15, a total of 1,34,761 MT of wheat crop was purchased in the mandis of the district.
She said that along with this procurement, according to the data released by the Food and Supplies Department of the Punjab Government, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has completed 100 percent lifting. She said that according to the data of the Food and Supplies Department, the Ludhiana East of Ludhiana district, (district is divided into East and West offices by the department), has also adjudged first in wheat lifting across the state. Besides, Ludhiana West, Rupnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib districts have touched the highest percentage of lifting. They have lifted 99.75, 98.09 and 96.45 percent respectively.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the payment (261.78 Crores) for all the wheat crop procured by the district has already been made. She said that the payment was ensured even before the 48-hour deadline set by the government.
She appreciated the performance of the procurement agencies involved in the procurement work for bringing the district to the number one position in Punjab in lifting arrangements. She said that in the agency wise data, 31,204 MT were procured by Pungrain, 24,986 MT by Markfed, 25,233 MT by PUNSUP, 16,084 MT by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and 10,444 MT by FCI and 26, 810 MT of wheat crop was procured by the traders.
