
Assurance of 8 hours power supply to farmers for paddy season: Indian Farm Association meets Powercom.
Patiala dated 16-05-2025: A 25-member delegation of farmers led by Harinder Singh Nandiyali, President of Indian Farm Association Punjab, met the administrative members of Punjab State Electricity Corporation here today to discuss uninterrupted power supply of tubewells and other electricity related demands to the farmers of Punjab in the paddy season starting today.
Patiala dated 16-05-2025: A 25-member delegation of farmers led by Harinder Singh Nandiyali, President of Indian Farm Association Punjab, met the administrative members of Punjab State Electricity Corporation here today to discuss uninterrupted power supply of tubewells and other electricity related demands to the farmers of Punjab in the paddy season starting today.
In which administrative members Mr. Jasvir Singh Sur Singh, Mr. Inderpal Singh Director Distribution, Mr. Harjeet Singh Director Production, Heera Lal Director Sales, Engr. R.K. Mittal, Chief Engineer South, Engr. Jatinder Kumar Supervising Engineer Distribution Patiala and other senior officers participated. Addressing this high level meeting, the side of the farmers was strongly put forward by senior farmer leader and National President of Indian Farm, Satnam Singh Behru.
He wanted to know from the Powercom administrators that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, what facilities will be provided to the farmers who are doing direct sowing of cumin from today and how much electricity supply has been arranged to protect maize and other crops from heat. Agreeing to this, he assured that from today, the farmers of Punjab will start 8 hours of electricity supply for direct sowing of cumin and to protect the cumin plants of the farmers from heat, supply will be given from 7 am to 10 am daily.
In the meeting, the senior officials also announced that during the paddy season, the officers and employees will be present at the headquarters 24 hours and strict legal action will be taken against the absent officers. In case of burning of the transformer, it will be replaced within 24 hours to save the crop from drought and local arrangement of transformers will be made in the sub-division. It was also agreed in the meeting that now the fields across Punjab are empty, wherever the poles are tilted and the wires are loose, they will be repaired within 10 days and arrangements are being made to provide supply of at least 8 hours or even more during the entire season. Giving information about the meeting, Mr. Behru said that the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. The Management of Powercom has assured that if any complaint of negligence in duty or corruption is received against any officer or employee, then strict action will be taken against him. Among the state level leaders who attended today's meeting were Gurmel Singh Bosar, Hardev Singh Gill, Jaskaran Singh Sekho, Hardeep Singh Kadgil, Kuldeep Singh Fatehabad, Balihar Singh Roorkee, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Sewa Singh Panodia, besides, district presidents who attended included Ranjit Singh Aakar Patiala, Jaspal Singh Mander Fatehgarh Sahib, Major Singh Moga, Vakil Singh Muchhal Sangrur, Balwinder Singh Bhullar Malerkotla, Amrik Singh Pamour, Gobinder Singh.
