New Delhi, May 13- Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Air Base in Punjab this morning in a secretive manner. The Adampur Air Base is home to the Russian-developed S-400 missile defence system. During his visit, Mr Modi took a briefing from the Indian Air Force and interacted with the base's personnel and brave soldiers.
In pictures from the visit accessed by 'The Tribune', the Prime Minister is seen posing with the soldiers, a day after he had said in his televised address to the nation that Pakistan's nuclear blackmail tactic will no longer work and India will respond to any future terror attack on its own terms and time.
The Prime Minister chose the visit to Adampur Air Base to send a strong message to Pakistan. The Indian Air Force had successfully deployed S-400 missile defence systems to target terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on the intervening night of May 7-8 under ‘Operation Sindoor’ and later on May 8-9 to thwart Pakistan’s attempts to target Indian military installations.
The S-400 system used by India is considered one of the most lethal surface-to-air missile systems in the world. It is one of the most advanced long-range defence systems and its radar tracks targets at a distance of 600 km.
The Prime Minister said in a post on X, “This morning, I visited Air Force Station Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with people who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is forever grateful to our armed forces for everything they have done for our country.’’
India had targeted terror camps, including training camps of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad in Muridke and Bahawalpur, following which Pakistan retaliated. “Pakistan attacked India instead of supporting India’s fight against terrorism,” the Prime Minister said in his televised address to the nation on Monday. Pakistani army officers attended the last rites of the terrorists killed in the attack, which is a major proof of state-sponsored terrorism.”
Adampur is one of the 26 locations that the Pakistani army claimed to have destroyed during Operation Sindoor. Pakistani newspaper Dawn recently quoted Pakistan Army's chief spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry as saying, "The 26 locations destroyed include air bases in Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur and Bhuj." However, satellite images have completely refuted this lie of Pakistan.
