New Delhi, May 8 - Pakistan has attempted to attack Jammu airport, which has been foiled by the Indian Army. At least 8 explosions were heard in Jammu after the drone and missile attacks.
According to information, the civil defense drill has been activated after three loud explosions were heard in Jammu city on Thursday evening within a span of 15 minutes. As a countermeasure, the entire city has been blacked out. Residents of Greater Kailash, RS Pora, Chhani Himmat have confirmed hearing loud explosions in and around the urban areas, after which several red spheres have been seen in the air. Meanwhile, the Indian Army has also foiled Pakistani drone and missile attacks near the Sunjuwan military base.
Akhil Razdan, a resident of Greater Kailash in Jammu, said that it looked like a drone or missile attack. “It was very close to where he lived in Greater Kailash but the attack was stopped very quickly,” Razdan said. He lives very close to the airport, about seven kilometres away.
“I heard a loud explosion and at first I thought it was firecrackers. So I went to the roof to check things out and saw at least eight red balls in the direction of the blast,” Razdan said. It looked like a drone strike from across the border which was intercepted by our air defence systems. As soon as the red balls appeared, the air sirens sounded and there was a complete blackout.”
Vijay Kumar, a resident of RS Pora, reported the same sequence of events three times and said it is still going on. Pakistan had tried to attack military installations at 15 places in India on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and the Indian Army’s air defence systems had foiled it. Even today, the Army’s air defence systems were deployed in Jammu to thwart Pakistan’s increasing attempts.
