SAS Nagar, May 5- On the call of Joint Forum Punjab, Ekta Manch Punjab and Association of Junior Engineers, electricity employees in Kharar held a protest rally against the government's decision to hand over Kharar and Lalru divisions to private hands. Electricity employees gathered in large numbers in the rally and expressed their anger by raising strong slogans against the Punjab government and the management of the power corporation.
The leaders said that the management is guilty that instead of filling 60 vacant posts, it has planned to sell 11 KV feeders through privatization. This is not only an attack on the rights of employees, but also a conspiracy to hand over the entire public sector to a few capitalist contractors.
The leaders also said that this is a fatal policy which will not only destroy this public institution, but will also end employment opportunities for the youth. He said that the work being done by the government through contractors has already proved to be substandard and fatal and hundreds of employees have become victims of accidents in the last few years.
He warned that if the management does not immediately withdraw this decision and start recruitment on the vacant posts, then this movement will become a state level struggle and the fight will be fought on every front to save the future of the public institutions and youth of Punjab.
