Jalandhar- On the occasion of Karl Marx's 207th birth anniversary, a serious discussion was held on the topic 'Relevance of Marxism' and 'Rise of Fascism' under the Bhai Santokh Singh 'Kirti' lecture series by Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee today. On the occasion of the discussion, Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee President Ajmer Singh, General Secretary Prithipal Singh Marimegha, Cultural Wing Convenor Amolak Singh and both the main speakers, committee members Jagroop and Harvinder Bhandal were present on the stage.
The discussion was started by the Committee's General Secretary Prithipal Singh Marimegha by highlighting the historical events and heroes in the freedom struggle.
Speaking on the topic 'Relevance of Marxism' on the occasion of Karl Marx's birth anniversary, committee member Jagroop said that the relevance of Marxism is not a matter of any doubt. Its relevance has earned its authenticity all over the world. The relevance of Marxism is to be the guide to liberation from spiritual slavery.
He criticized those who consider matter to be of prime importance and give priority to motion. He said that being limited to only interpretation is not a Marxist viewpoint, Marx and Engels put forward the theory of change. Only interpretation of society is not enough, the real issue is to change this system.
Knowledge, science, research may have their own place, but it is certainly not appropriate to give everyone the place of scholars of Marxist ideology. The conscious working class is such a power that opens the way to victory. Jagroop said that there is also a faction that shouts that the time of Marxism is over. He said, can the time of 'truth' ever pass? Never.
In fact, capitalism is being eaten up by the fear that if the working class and all the toiling people are understood as Marxists, they will completely overturn the state system based on plunder and coercion. In crisis, capitalism starts burdening people and gets stuck at a point where it resorts to unjust wars to capture other markets. He said that when the capitalist crisis reaches its peak, it gets stuck at a point from where it has no way out. In such a situation, rebellion and class struggle arise. Harvinder Bhandal stressed that we need to be cautious of the spreading claws of the phenomenon of fascism, otherwise very terrible situations will emerge to take our breath away.
He said that fascism, which creates a fog of racism and rains fire of anger on people, acquits itself and serves its own ends by diverting people's attention from real issues. He said that it is also a truth that fascism is not stronger than people but people need to become aware and struggle.
