Nawanshahr- District Magistrate, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Ankurjit Singh has banned bathing in the Sutlej River and Bist Doab Canal falling within the limits of the district. The District Magistrate, exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian National Safety Code, 2023, has imposed this ban in view of the unfortunate incidents of bathers going into deep water and drowning in the water at these two places.
According to the District Magistrate, the family as well as the district administration feel sad due to the occurrence of such unfortunate incidents, for which this ban is necessary. He said that if any person is caught bathing on the spot, then the police department has been instructed to take action against him in violation of the orders of the District Magistrate. These orders will remain in effect until June 23, 2025.
