New Delhi, April 22 - Hitting back at Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal on Tuesday said that neither Parliament nor the Executive is supreme in the country, but the Constitution is supreme. It is noteworthy that Dhankhar has been attacking those who criticized his comments questioning the recent orders of the Supreme Court, to which Sibal has said this.
Sibal also claimed that everything said by the court is in line with the constitutional values ??of the country and is guided by the national interest. Sibal's comments in posts on X came soon after Dhankhar said that every word spoken by a constitutional authority is guided by the supreme national interest.
It is noteworthy that a bench of the Supreme Court recently fixed a period of three months for the President of India to take a decision on the bills sent by the governors for his assent. The court has taken this decision so that the bills passed by the state assemblies do not remain pending indefinitely without any decision. Reacting to these orders of the top court, Dhankhar had said that the judiciary cannot play the role of a 'super parliament' and cannot interfere in the domain of the executive.
