He said that on this day evacuation drills will also be organized in all government offices, institutions and establishments. Apart from this, during the month of April, people will be made aware about earthquake resistant construction practices and disaster management preparations through Gram Sabha meetings at the Panchayat level. Along with this, a one-day workshop on safe construction practices will also be organized in the DRDA auditorium on April 5 at 10.30 am.
He said that Disaster Awareness Day is celebrated as a statewide campaign under which various programs will be organized at the state, district and community level. These include earthquake disaster rehearsals, awareness and emergency response training in schools and other educational institutions. The aim of all these programmes is to make the community aware of disaster management preparedness and promote disaster risk reduction at the local level.
