Agriculture Officer held a meeting with the seed sellers of Block Kharar.

Kharar (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), April 17: As per the directions of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurmel Singh, a meeting of seed sellers of Block Kharar was held in Block Kharar office under the chairmanship of Block Agriculture Officer Dr. Shubkaran Singh Dhaliwal. The seed sellers who attended the meeting were instructed not to sell hybrid varieties of paddy and Pusa-44 variety as per the orders of the government.

The seed sellers who attended the meeting were instructed not to sell hybrid varieties of paddy and Pusa-44 variety as per the orders of the government.
He said that Pusa-44 variety consumes more water due to its long duration and due to the large quantity of paddy straw, there is a risk of more incidents of straw fire due to difficulty in maintaining it. Similarly, farmers face difficulties in marketing the production of hybrid varieties of paddy as sheller owners do not buy such varieties due to defects.
Apart from this, seed sellers were instructed to submit the complete report regarding the sale of paddy seeds during Kharif 2025 to the Block Agriculture Officer Office Kharar by the 4th of every month. Agriculture Development Dr. Gurdayal Kumar, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Jaspreet Singh and Agriculture Extension Officer Dr. Suchha Singh, Dr. Ajay Kumar as well as Agriculture Sub Inspector Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, Mr. Amritpal Singh attended this meeting. About 20 seed sellers working in Block Kharar, mainly representatives of Punjab Agriculture Center, Kisan Seed Store participated.
