Chandigarh- Today, in a joint meeting of Factory Workers Union and Naujawan Bharat Sabha held in Hallomajra (Chandigarh), it was decided to celebrate International Labor Day in Chandigarh on 1 May. To spread the revolutionary message of May Day and the call of May Day Conference to the wider working class, an intensive three-week publicity campaign will be run by the organizations. Thousands of pamphlets and posters will be printed.
Meetings and street meetings will be held. On the occasion of International Labor Day on 1 May, workers across the world will unite and remember the martyrs of Chicago and pledge to continue the struggle for the liberation of the working class from the slavery of the capitalist class. The teaching of International Labor Day is that the liberation of the working class should be done by the hands of the working class itself.
The revolutionary legacy of this day inspires the workers to reject the divisions of country, nation, caste, religion, race etc. and to unite as a class and intensify the struggle for the abolition of the present exploitative, anti-human capitalist-imperialist system. Labour leaders said that in the present global situation, when capitalist-imperialist exploitation has become more intense than ever, the significance of International Labour Day assumes greater significance.
The organisations opposed attempts to limit the celebration of International Labour Day to ceremonial and paid activities and called upon the workers to celebrate the greatest festival of labour with full revolutionary fervour and make them aware of its great heritage and teachings.
