
Deputy Chief Minister's historic announcement - Government Degree College Khad will be named after Mohan Lal Dutt, the great son of Khad village
Una, November 8 - Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, while attending the annual prize distribution function of Government Degree College Khad as the chief guest, announced to name the college after the great son of Khad village, eminent social worker and former MLA Late Mohan Lal Dutt. The contribution of late Mohan Lal Dutt, who was the MLA of Gagret-Chintpurni area in the 60s, to social life is still alive in the hearts of the people of the area.
Una, November 8 - Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, while attending the annual prize distribution function of Government Degree College Khad as the chief guest, announced to name the college after the great son of Khad village, eminent social worker and former MLA Late Mohan Lal Dutt. The contribution of late Mohan Lal Dutt, who was the MLA of Gagret-Chintpurni area in the 60s, to social life is still alive in the hearts of the people of the area. The Deputy Chief Minister, while highlighting the respect and reverence of the people of the area towards the great son of Khad village, recalled his contribution and said to make his memory eternal with the naming of the college. Late Shri Dutt was the MLA of Gagret in the year 1962, at that time Gagret-Chintpurni was a single assembly constituency and this area came under Hoshiarpur.
Apart from this, the Deputy Chief Minister also announced to start science, physical education and music classes in Khadd College from the next academic session. In his address, he said that Government Degree College Khadd is a college in a rural environment. In such a situation, academic streams will be started here as per the demand. At present, Arts and Commerce faculties are being run here. He said that the focus has been on expansion of facilities along with infrastructural development in the college. A state-of-the-art indoor stadium is being constructed here at a cost of Rs 8 crore. Let us tell you, the Deputy Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone of this project in September last year. Its construction work is going on at a fast pace.
On this occasion, Shri Agnihotri distributed prizes to the students who performed excellently in academics, sports and other cultural activities.
Khadd is famous for football and potatoes
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Khadd village is known for playing football and bumper potato production. He expressed happiness that the girls of the village are earning name in the country and the world in football. This is an inspiration for everyone.
A strong system will be created to protect the interests of potato producers
Mr Agnihotri said that potato is produced in huge quantity in the Khadd region. A strong system will be created to ensure safe and worry-free sale of potato crops of potato growers of this region as well as the entire Una district. This step will protect the interests of the farmers and they will be saved from any kind of fraud. He said that Deputy Commissioner Una has been directed to prepare a report after conducting a detailed study to develop a strong mechanism for the purchase and sale of potatoes. Further steps will be taken accordingly.
Revolutionary phase of education sector in Haroli
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Haroli Vidhansabha area is witnessing a revolutionary phase of education. The facility of internet connectivity for children will be further improved in all the schools and colleges of the area. All educational institutions will be equipped with CCTV cameras. Improvement and development work of playgrounds in educational institutions is being done on priority.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that when he became MLA for the first time, there were no institutions to get basic education in Haroli. But with continuous efforts, today there are 33 senior secondary schools, one central school, and 3 degree colleges to provide higher education in Haroli. 2 ITIs have been opened to provide technical education. Triple IT in Haroli has made a name for itself in the country. Along with this, the nursing and law college of Himcaps Society has made its special identity as an excellent educational institution and Badhera has emerged as a big name in the country's map. This is the first college in the state to run in the cooperative sector.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Skill Development Centre established at a cost of Rs 25 crore in Palakwah will become a mint for making the youth skilled. An Automatic Vehicle Testing Centre will soon be established at a cost of Rs 5 crore in Roda of Haroli, where computerized vehicle testing facility will be available.
CCTV surveillance in every nook and corner of Haroli
Mr Agnihotri said that no criminal will be able to escape after committing a crime in Haroli assembly constituency. CCTV surveillance has been ensured in the entire area by spending Rs 2 crore. To make the security system foolproof, CCTVs have been installed at all the entry gates, main roads, important places, intersections and markets of the assembly constituency. All educational institutions are also being equipped with CCTVs. This initiative is an important step from the point of view of ensuring the security of the area and effective control over crimes.
Recharging of tanks with Rs. 12 crore
The Deputy Chief Minister said that there are many ancient ponds in Haroli area. The focus has been on their conservation and beautification. The administration has been given strict instructions not to allow anyone to fill the ponds with soil and level them. He said that water filling in the ponds is important to deal with the problem of falling water level in the area, so conservation of ponds is necessary. In view of this, Rs 12 crore is being spent on recharging the ponds. At the same time, beautification of ponds is being done in Pubowal and Dulahad with Rs 2 crore each.
He said that beautification work has been done on various squares and intersections in Haroli assembly constituency. He stressed on ensuring community participation in their maintenance and called upon the local people to understand their responsibility and form committees to make a strong system for their maintenance.
On this occasion, Principal of Government Degree College Khadd, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Sharma expressed his gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and honoured him by presenting him a shawl and cap. He presented the annual report of the college. Students presented colourful cultural programmes in the function.
