Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 16: MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh held a meeting with the District Administration, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar today at the District Administrative Complex for development works and solution of public problems of villages of Gharuan Kanungoi falling in Kharar sub-division of Chamkaur Sahib Assembly Constituency and directed to solve them in a time bound manner.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, March 16: MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh held a meeting with the District Administration, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar today at the District Administrative Complex for development works and solution of public problems of villages of Gharuan Kanungoi falling in Kharar sub-division of Chamkaur Sahib Assembly Constituency and directed to solve them in a time bound manner.
MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh told Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, present in the meeting, that the master plan of Gharuan should be implemented soon, after the implementation of which many problems will be solved automatically. He emphasized on the construction of a bridge near Malikpur on the Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal and asked the Public Works Department to submit a new proposal in this regard soon.
When MLA Chamkaur Sahib reviewed the latest status of sewerage treatment plants to be set up in the area, SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh informed that 2 acres of land required for the STP to be set up at Gharuan has been identified and Nagar Panchayat Gharuan has now written a letter to the Local Bodies Department to acquire it legally. He informed that the construction work of the STP to be built at Khooni Mazra has started and it will be completed within 10 months.
Apart from this, the work of filling and leveling the land for the third STP to be built near Darpan City is going on and its construction will also start soon. MLA Dr. Chaharjit Singh asked SDM Gurmander Singh to call a joint meeting of Nagar Panchayat, Public Works Department and Drainage officials to find a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging on Gharuan-Machhipur Road and present its solution within two weeks.
He ordered to prepare a proposal in the same meeting for laying storm sewer pipeline from Tripuri to SYL and storm sewer pipeline of the adjoining villages of Kurali to Siswan drain. While giving instructions to immediately seek the necessary funds from the Revenue and Rehabilitation Department for construction on the 5 Kanal land given by the Nagar Panchayat for the construction of Gharuan Sub Tehsil Office, the MLA said that space should also be arranged for a police station.
Similarly, to build a grain market/purchase center in Gharuan, he asked to send the matter of the land located at Sakrulapur to the Mandi Board. In view of the historical importance of Gharuan related to the Pandavas, he asked to send a proposal for the beautification of the pond located in the village to the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department. On this occasion, he also asked to prepare a proposal to upgrade the Primary Health Center of Gharuan and convert it into a 50-bed hospital so that the infrastructure of health facilities in the area can be strengthened.
Taking cognizance of the delay in the construction of the new building of ITI Tripuri, he asked the Public Works Department to immediately arrange the necessary funds for it and complete it. Similarly, he asked to solve the problem of laying drainage pipes and treatment plant in Rora village as soon as possible.
He emphasized on including every eligible person in the ongoing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) survey in the villages by the last date of 31 March 2025 and asked the Rural Development and Panchayat Department to pay special attention to this. He asked to make people aware about this in the villages as the last date for the eKYC process of smart ration card holders is also 31 March.
MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh emphasized on the disposal of wet waste and solid waste in the villages and asked to work by making proposals in every village in this regard and to prepare playgrounds in the villages through MNREGA. SHO Gharuan was asked to work with full dedication under the campaign 'War against Drugs' launched by the Punjab Government and to run awareness campaigns to save the students of educational institutions located in the area from the evil of drug addiction.
DDPO Baljinder Singh Grewal, Executive Engineer Public Works Department SS Bhullar, EO Gharuan Ashok Kumar, Executive Engineer Mining cum Drainage Akash Aggarwal, SHO Kamal Taneja and other officers were present in the meeting.
