Mumbai, March 24- The Mumbai Police on Monday arrested 11 members of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena youth wing Yuva Sena for vandalising the Habitat comedy venue. The group was protesting against alleged derogatory comments made by stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on his recent comedy special ‘Naya Bharat’ uploaded on YouTube.
According to the police, the youth group entered the venue when comedian Rajat Sood’s live show was going on, forcing him to stop and vandalise it. The Shiv Sena has strongly objected to the comments made by Kamra. Meanwhile, the opposition alliance in Maharashtra has criticised the Mahayuti government for the deterioration of law and order and UBT's Arvind Sawant has said that every word spoken by Kamra is correct.
Shinde Sena's Sanjay Nirupam alleged that the money for booking the venue where the show was recorded came from Uddhav Thackeray's house Matoshree and that is why Eknath Shinde has been targeted. He further alleged that Kamra is part of the "Rahul Gandhi and Congress ecosystem". An FIR has also been registered against Kunal Kamra for alleged derogatory remarks.
However, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant supported the comments made by Kamra and said that everything he said was correct.
