SAS Nagar, June 5: Under the leadership of Justice Deepak Sibal, Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and under the able guidance of District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, Shri Atul Kasana, a tree plantation drive titled “Every Person Plants a Tree” was carried out in the district on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees and encourage community participation in protecting the environment.
Ms. Surabhi Parashar, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar informed that under the state level campaign, a target has been set to plant a total of 5 lakh saplings by the District Legal Services Authority throughout Punjab. On this day, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar in coordination with NGO “Eco Plantation Association” planted eco-friendly saplings in Sector 69, SAS Nagar.
On this occasion, Ms. Surabhi Parashar, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar along with members of NGO “Eco Plantation Association” namely Malkit Singh, R.K. Singh, H.S. Matharu, Kulwant Singh, H.R. Shimar, Gopal Singh, Amandeep Sohi, Harjinder Bal and Gurcharan Kaur planted various types of saplings.
On this occasion, Ms. Surabhi Parashar, Secretary, DLSA also planted saplings at the headquarters of Punjab State Legal Services Authority situated at Sector 69, SAS Nagar and motivated others to plant more and more saplings for environmental sustainability. Ms. Surabhi Parashar also spread awareness about protecting the environment by choosing plastic free products.
