
First plastic waste separation plant for rural area in district to come up soon at Madanheri village: ADC Sonam Chaudhary
SAS Nagar, January 29, 2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said that to separate plastic waste in rural areas, first of all a plastic waste separation plant will be set up soon at Madanheri village of Kharar block, which will also serve the villages of Mohali.

Taking a review meeting of rural development works in the meeting hall of the District Administrative Complex today, the ADC said that solid and rural waste has become a major issue in the rural area and we are adopting various methods for disposal of solid and wet waste with the help of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.
The plastic waste plant being set up by the Water Supply and Sanitation Department at Madanheri will pave the way for compressing plastic material into bales, which will be sold in the open market. Besides, by the end of March, 78 villages will get the tag of ODF Plus under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) by resolving the issues of dry and wet waste in a proper manner to make them model villages, he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs Chaudhary asked the Block Development and Panchayat Officers of Mohali and Derabassi blocks to complete the construction and finishing of rural libraries in their respective blocks by mid-February so that these can be made functional by the end of February. Both the blocks have six libraries each. Emphasizing on expediting the construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), she said that all the beneficiaries should be properly followed up and guided to get the remaining installments by completing the first/second phase.
The progress of construction of 26 Anganwadi Centre buildings and playgrounds was also assessed in the meeting and asked to complete the work in the stipulated time. The meeting also asked the BDPOs to submit the utilization certificates of the works completed under various Finance Commissions and MP Local Area Development Fund without delay. Sub divisional magistrates, Damandeep Kaur from Mohali and Amit Gupta from Derabassi, deputy CEO Zila Parishad Ranjeet Singh, BDPO Mohali Dhanwant Singh Randhawa and BDPO Derabassi Gurpreet Singh Mangat also attended the meeting.
