
Powercom's outsourcing contract workers will sit on dharna in front of Powercom's head office tomorrow - Balihar Singh
Hoshiarpur- Powercom and Transco Contract Workers Union Punjab State President Balihar Singh and State General Secretary Rajesh Kumar said that they are continuously protesting against the Punjab Government and Powercom Management for their legitimate demands like direct inclusion of outsourcing contract workers in the department, implementation of minimum living wage as per the Act of 1948, guarantee of permanent job pension to the employees who died and became disabled due to electric shock and fulfilling all the demands given in the demand letter etc.

During the dharna, a meeting was held with the Finance Minister and Powercom Management officials in Chandigarh recently, in which the Finance Minister and the Board Management had entrusted the responsibility to the Power Secretary Punjab Government to resolve the demands. In which the Powercom Management including the Power Secretary had assured to resolve the demands by sitting with the employee organization and finding a solution to the demands and a proposal was to be placed for the solution of the demands in the meeting to be held on 16 January 2025 under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Power Minister.
But the meeting of 16 January 2025 was postponed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Power Minister, due to which there is a lot of anger among the contract employees. It has been decided to hold a continuous protest along with families and children in front of the Powercom Head Office on 17 January 2025.
