SAS Nagar, March 12- Mohali Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has condemned the installation of 50 kmph speed boards for motorists on Airport Road and demanded that this speed limit be increased to 65 kmph for cars. He has also written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
He said that in Chandigarh, the speed limit is 60 kmph even on the worst road, so people are being unnecessarily harassed by increasing the speed of this road connecting Mohali to the airport to 50 kmph. He said that this will cause great harm especially to people reaching the airport. He said that along with this, the already existing traffic jams will increase further, which will cause more inconvenience to the people.
The Deputy Mayor said that it is better that flyovers be constructed at some places on this road. So that people coming from outside do not face any kind of problem and can reach the airport on time. But the administration is pushing the people by adopting the policy of unnecessarily issuing challans to people for speeding up to 50 kmph by installing reverse cameras. He demanded from the Deputy Commissioner to coordinate in this matter and notify the speed in this regard. And this speed should be fixed at least 65 kmph for car drivers.
