
All possible help will be provided for the rehabilitation of drug addicts - Deputy Commissioner
Hoshiarpur- Under the campaign 'War on Drugs' launched by the Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today reviewed the performance of the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers with the civil, police administration and health department officials and said that the district administration will ensure all possible help for the rehabilitation of people trapped in the drug trap.
Hoshiarpur- Under the campaign 'War on Drugs' launched by the Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today reviewed the performance of the drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers with the civil, police administration and health department officials and said that the district administration will ensure all possible help for the rehabilitation of people trapped in the drug trap.
Talking to the officials at the local district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that a necessary plan should be prepared soon to increase the capacity of the District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center so that by further increasing the facilities, drug addicts can be brought towards a healthy life.
She said that in addition to drug de-addiction measures in the rehabilitation center, skill development classes are also being conducted for these people so that after giving up drugs, these people can run their business. He stressed on the need for the officers to visit the drug de-addiction centers and OAT clinics jointly and regularly to see the entire process, saying that this can meet the needs of these centers as well as make necessary improvements.
Directing the officers of the Health Department, the Deputy Commissioner said that through coordination with other concerned departments, maximum people should be made aware of the trend and adverse effects of drugs through Information, Education and Communication (IEC) so that this social evil can be effectively prevented from spreading further.
He said that under the campaign launched by the Punjab Government, all possible help will be provided to the youth addicted to drugs so that they can get rid of this scourge and lead a good life.
Taking information from the Civil Surgeon, Deputy Medical Commissioner, Police Department officers about the efforts being made to prevent the trend of drugs, he said that these efforts should be intensified in the coming days. Apart from Additional Deputy Commissioner Nicas Kumar, SDMs and other officers were present on the occasion.
