Holi fair to be held in Maidi from March 7, administration fully prepared

Una, March 6- The famous historical Holi fair is starting from March 7 in Maidi of Amb subdivision of Una district. The district administration has completed all the preparations for this fair which will run from March 7 to 17. Various committees have been formed to ensure facilities, security arrangements and other necessary arrangements for the devotees, which have taken up their responsibilities.

Una, March 6- The famous historical Holi fair is starting from March 7 in Maidi of Amb subdivision of Una district. The district administration has completed all the preparations for this fair which will run from March 7 to 17. Various committees have been formed to ensure facilities, security arrangements and other necessary arrangements for the devotees, which have taken up their responsibilities.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that departments have been assigned responsibilities for cleanliness, electricity, drinking water management along with police and traffic management in the fair. During the fair, ADC Una will be the fair officer and SDM Amb will be the assistant fair officer, while ASP Una will be the police fair officer and DSP Amb will be the assistant police fair officer.
During the fair period, 850 police personnel, 125 women police personnel and 750 home guard jawans will take charge of security in the fair area. Apart from this, he said that the ritual of Nishan Sahib (flag hoisting) will be performed on March 14. While Panja Prasad will be distributed on the midnight of 16 March.

Entry of goods vehicles prohibited:
He said that coming to the fair in any goods carrying vehicles including open trucks, trolleys, tempos will be completely prohibited. During the fair period, passengers coming in goods carriers will be stopped at the border area itself and legal action will be taken against the goods carriers. Devotees from the border area will be able to reach the fair area only through HRTC buses.

Fair area divided into 10 sectors:
The Deputy Commissioner said that for the smooth functioning of various arrangements in the fair area, the fair area has been divided into ten sectors so that smooth functioning of various types of other arrangements including traffic, parking and cleanliness can be ensured. He said that medical camps will be set up at various places by the Health and Family Welfare Department and the AYUSH Department in various areas of the fair site. Also, during the fair period, one ambulance each of the Health Department will be available in Nahri, Maidi and Charan Ganga for the convenience of patients in case of emergency. Medical posts will also be available in the fair area for the convenience of devotees.
Apart from this, three additional sectors Una to Mehatpur, Haroli-Pandoga and Marwari-Mubaripur will also be created whose sector magistrates will be the respective SDMs.

Special permits for taxis will be issued from SDM office:
He informed that during the fair period, special permits will be issued to the first 100 taxis from SDM office Amb to carry passengers from Nahri to Maidi. Additional buses will also be run as per the convenience and requirements of the passengers. Also, there will be no permission to set up langars on the roadside. Loudspeakers will be allowed to be used at low volume only from 6 am to 10 pm in the fair area.
Teams deployed to curb drug abuse, full focus on cleanliness:
The Deputy Commissioner informed that special police teams have been deployed to curb drug abuse in the fair. Apart from this, the District Food and Supply Controller Una will conduct continuous inspections during the fair period to ensure that food items, plastic items, open bottles of petrol and diesel, balloon inflating cylinders and other inflammable equipment are not used.
Apart from this, PWD will ensure proper repair of roads and Jal Shakti Department will ensure proper supply of drinking water and cleanliness. He informed that the responsibility of cleanliness in the fair area has been given to Sulabh International. He informed that it will be mandatory to keep dustbins outside every shop in the fair premises so that the fair area can be kept clean.
