Police arrest father-son duo with arms and drug money

Amritsar, March 4- Punjab Police has arrested two alleged big smugglers involved in drug trade and recovered arms. The arrested accused have been identified as Amolak Singh and his son Mahavir Singh alias Goldie, both residents of village Thatha, district Tarn Taran.

The police have recovered one point 30 bore pistol, two magazines, 15 cartridges, one 306 single barrel spring field rifle and five cartridges and drug money worth Rs one lakh from them.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that initial investigation has revealed that they also have a fake arms license. The police are investigating the matter thoroughly and more recoveries are expected. He said that ten cases have been registered against Amolak Singh. He was running a drug trafficking syndicate along with his son.
The police had arrested him earlier and he came out of jail in 2019. He is still active in the same business and is a fugitive. The police were looking for him. Several cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against him in different parts of Punjab.
He said that the police had earlier arrested seven accused in this case, from whom three kg of heroin and drug money worth Rs five lakh were recovered. The police had also seized their vehicles.
