SDM held a review meeting regarding security and arrangements in Maidi fair.

Una, March 4 - SDM Amb Sachin Sharma held a review meeting at Bachat Bhawan Amb on Tuesday regarding the security and arrangements made in view of the Holi Mela to be organized from 7th to 17th March in Maidi of subdivision Amb. During this, he gave necessary guidelines to various departments including Gurudwara management, local Panchayat Samiti, Panchayat Pradhan regarding the successful conduct of the fair.

Una, March 4 - SDM Amb Sachin Sharma held a review meeting at Bachat Bhawan Amb on Tuesday regarding the security and arrangements made in view of the Holi Mela to be organized from 7th to 17th March in Maidi of subdivision Amb. During this, he gave necessary guidelines to various departments including Gurudwara management, local Panchayat Samiti, Panchayat Pradhan regarding the successful conduct of the fair.
The SDM said that for the successful conduct of the fair, responsibilities of all the agencies have been fixed for cleanliness, electricity, drinking water management including police and traffic management. He said that medical post will also be available in the fair area for the convenience of the devotees. During the fair, ADC Una will be the fair officer and SDM Amb will be the assistant fair officer, while ASP Una will be the police fair officer and DSP Amb will be the assistant police fair officer. During the fair period, 850 police personnel, 125 women police personnel and 750 home guard personnel will take care of security in the fair area. Apart from this, he told that the ceremony of Nishan Sahib (hoisting the flag) will be performed on March 14. While Panja Prasad will be distributed at midnight on March 16.

Trucks, tempos, tractor-trolleys and cargo vehicles will be banned-
Sachin Sharma said that coming to the fair in any cargo vehicle including open trucks, trolleys, tempos will be completely banned. During the fair period, passengers coming in cargo vehicles will be stopped at the border area and legal action will be taken against the cargo carriers. Devotees from the border area will be able to reach the fair area only through HRTC buses.

Fair area divided into 10 sectors-
The SDM said that for the smooth functioning of various arrangements in the fair area, the fair area has been divided into ten sectors so that smooth functioning of various other arrangements including traffic, parking and cleanliness can be ensured. He said that medical camps will be set up at various places by the Health and Family Welfare Department and the AYUSH Department in various areas of the fair site. Also, during the fair period, one ambulance of the health department will be available in Nahri, Maidi and Charan Ganga for the convenience of patients in case of emergency. Apart from this, three additional sectors Una to Mehatpur, Haroli-Pandoga and Marwari-Mubaripur will also be created whose sector magistrates will be the respective SDMs. Apart from this, to get rid of the network problem, the representatives of Jio and Airtel were instructed to ensure the arrangement of transmitters and receivers in the fair area.

Special permits for taxis will be issued from SDM office-
He said that during the fair period, special permits will be issued to the first 100 taxis from SDM office Amb to carry passengers from Nahri to Maidi. He said that additional buses will also be run as per the convenience and requirements of the passengers. Also, there will be no permission to set up langars on the roadside.
He said that the District Food and Supply Controller Una will conduct continuous inspections during the fair period to ensure that food items, plastic items, petrol and diesel in open bottles, balloon inflating cylinders and other inflammable equipment are not used. Apart from this, PWD will ensure proper repair of roads and Jal Shakti Department will ensure proper supply of drinking water and cleanliness. He said that the responsibility of cleanliness in the fair area has been given to Sulabh International. He said that it will be mandatory to keep dustbins outside every shop in the fair premises so that the fair area can be kept clean.

Emergency exit route plan will be made-
The SDM has instructed the heads of Dera Baba Badbhaag Singh as well as other religious places including Shri Charan Ganga and Shri Manji Sahib Gurudwara to prepare an emergency evacuation plan. Also, instructions have been given to organize mock drills on the implementation of the evacuation route plan.

Police teams will be formed to curb drug abuse-
Sachin Sharma said that police force teams will be formed to curb drug abuse activities during the fair period so that any kind of drug activities can be stopped.
Apart from this, loudspeakers will be allowed to be used at low volume in the fair area only from 6 am to 10 pm. He urged the managers and representatives of various religious places situated in Maidi and the peoples' representatives of the bordering Gram Panchayats to contribute in every possible way for the successful organisation of the fair.
ASP Sanjeev Bhatia, DSP Amb Vasuda Sood, VDO Amb Om Dogra, District Health Officer Dr Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, Maidi Khas Panchayat Pradhan Reena, Nahri Panchayat Pradhan Neelam, Jwar Panchayat Pradhan Sandeep and other officials were present in the meeting.
