
Prof. Himendra Bharti delivered a special lecture on ecosystem at Punjabi University

Patiala, February 25- A special lecture by Prof. Himendra Bharti was organised at the Department of Psychology, Punjabi University. MA students studying Environmental Psychology actively participated in this lecture on the topic 'Ecosystem Impact and Diversity'.
Prof. Himendra Bharti shared his views with the students on ecosystem, biodiversity and the overall impact of environmental changes. He shared many interesting facts and points about the important role of different species in the overall functioning of the ecosystem, their diversity in different habitats and the effects of environmental disturbances on their numbers.
Earlier, the program coordinator Dr. Inderpreet Sandhu introduced Prof. Bharti during the welcome address. He said that Prof. Bharti is a professor in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University. Prof. Bharti has worked to discover more than 75 new species of ants in India and four new species from South East Asia.
He said that Prof. Bharti is known as 'The Ant Man'. Department Head Prof. Damanjit Sandhu praised the initiative and said that the lecture has provided valuable information to the students about ecological research methods and the importance of conservation of biodiversity in the ecosystem.
