20 February Hoshiarpur- At Maha Kumbh 2025, illustrated comics have established themselves as a dynamic tool to promote responsible waste segregation and recycling.
As part of the Maidan Saaf campaign, Coca-Cola India and its Foundation Anandan, in collaboration with community forum Gyasi Parivar, are sparking engaging conversations by creating engaging comic panels in public spaces.
Through stories and art, these comics bring out the importance of waste segregation and everyone's important role in managing waste effectively. Various characters and settings are part of the panels, showing how a simple act like sorting waste can help in recycling, especially in the case of plastic waste.
These visual stories also provide a glimpse into the lives of sanitation workers and highlight their important contributions. They show how responsible waste segregators can maintain their dignity and support their work.
Spread across a 12-km stretch along the river, these pictorial panels are paired with changing rooms for women made from recycled multi-layer plastic waste. These panels make environmental awareness a part of everyday conversations. By making the conversation of waste management fun, accessible and engaging, the campaign has ensured that millions of Kumbh visitors connect with ideas of sustainability in a meaningful way.
