
Sun Foundation opens Vishwa Kaushal Vikas Kendra in Patiala to boost employment
Patiala, Feb 18- Taking a significant step towards making the youth of Punjab self-employed, Sun Foundation, under the leadership of Rajya Sabha Member from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahni, inaugurated the Vishwa Kaushal Centre of Excellence in Patiala under the theme 'Mera Hunar Meri Shaan'.
Patiala, Feb 18- Taking a significant step towards making the youth of Punjab self-employed, Sun Foundation, under the leadership of Rajya Sabha Member from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahni, inaugurated the Vishwa Kaushal Centre of Excellence in Patiala under the theme 'Mera Hunar Meri Shaan'.
Punjab Employment Generation and Skill Development Minister Aman Arora, Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Speaker of Punjab Assembly Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, MP Dharamvir Gandhi, MLA Ajit Pal Kohli and Mayor Kundan Gogia inaugurated the centre during a function held outside the centre in front of the Municipal Corporation office here. On the occasion, Mukha Granthi Gyani Pranam Singh of Gurdwara Sri Dukh Nivaran Sahib offered Ardaas.
Sun Foundation Chairman and Member of Parliament Dr. Sahni said that this state-of-the-art skill development centre will impart free training to more than 1,000 youth annually, thereby ensuring employment for the local youth. State-of-the-art courses including General Duty Assistant, Assistant Electrician, Assistant Beauty Therapist, BFSI-Bank Insurance Relationship Associate, BFSI-Account Assistant and Domestic Data Entry Operator will be conducted at this centre.
Dr. Sahni said that we aim to provide training to 10,000 youth annually through our various skill development centres and adopted ITIs across Punjab. By imparting modern skills on state-of-the-art machines, we are bridging the gap between education and employment. Emphasizing the importance of strong industrial linkages to facilitate smooth job placement, he said, "This skill centre will not only impart knowledge but will also ensure that the trained students get respectable jobs in reputed companies.
Our holistic approach is to ensure a bright future for our youth by combining practical training, mentoring and job preparation." Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora lauded the initiative and said that skill development is the backbone of Punjab's economic progress. This World Skills Centre of Excellence is a major step towards generating employment opportunities for our youth by ensuring that they are trained in modern technologies and get sustainable job opportunities.
Praising the dedication of Dr. Sahni, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan termed him as “Jobs Man of India” and said, “This initiative of Dr. Sahni is truly transformational for the youth of Punjab. The World Skills Centre of Excellence in Patiala will play a vital role in providing world-class training and employment opportunities, which is highly commendable.” Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that Dr. Sahni has set a wonderful example of social responsibility.
By investing in skill development, he is not only training individuals but also strengthening the workforce of Punjab and contributing to its economic growth. This skill centre will prove to be a ray of hope for thousands of young aspirants.
The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia and MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli and praised the efforts of Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahni for creating employment opportunities for the youth and for the betterment of the society. Among the prominent personalities present on the occasion was Gurbir Singh Sandhu, CEO, World Skill Centre of Excellence, Patiala.
